Hawaii Uniform Crime Reporting Newsletter

May 2002 – The first UCR newsletter in Hawaii since the 1980s, the Hawaii Uniform Crime Reporting Program Update is a six-page document intended primarily for Records Division supervisors and clerks at the state’s four county police departments. However, the newsletter should also provide valuable information to anyone with an interest in the guidelines and procedures of the UCR program, and/or some of the more confusing issues that must be carefully considered when converting police reports to UCR data. Featured in our first newsletter are discussions of domestic violence, crystal methamphetamine, stolen mopeds, burglaries involving certain types of building structures, arson, the theft of rental cars, and the UCR rule pertaining to “separation of time and place.” The newsletter will continue to be published on an occassional, as-needed basis.
