John Tam

John Tam began his legal career as an associate in private practice with Shim Sigal Tam and Naito.  After joining the Maui Prosecutors on February 1, 1977, he dedicated 40 years as a prosecutor until his retirement on July 1, 2017.   On two occasions, John Tam was temporarily assigned away from the prosecutor’s office when he served as a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1978, and was specially assigned by then-Mayor Linda Lingle to serve as temporary director of the Maui County Department of Liquor Control in the early 1990’s.  In his retirement, Mr. Tam continues to serve as a CAAP arbitrator.
