Empowering Every Child, Every School, Everywhere: Prevent Abuse Together
The Expanded Child Abuse Prevention Education (ECAP) Project, led by the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center at the Zero Abuse Project and supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, brings proven child safety and abuse prevention programs to schools nationwide. Originally designed and tested in Minnesota, these evidence-based body safety lessons are now available, free of charge, to schools across the country, serving Kindergarten through grade twelve.
The Curriculum Resources & Toolkits consist of four grade levels: Empower Me (grades K-3), Empower Me Plus (grades 4-6), Smart Not Scared (Middle School), and Smart Not Scared (High School). There are also several Microlearning Videos for caregivers, educators, and community members. The videos cover topics such as Boundaries, Consent, Disclosure, Exploitation, Grooming tactics, Recantation, Sextortion, and other related issues. ECAP offers comprehensive training programs that can be modified for each State. These trainings include Train-the-Trainer modules, live and recorded webinars, and resources. Resources include toddler and preschool conversation fact sheets, training fact sheets, and a general brochure available in both English and Spanish
