Uniform Crime Reports – Hawaii Crime Statistics
August 29, 2024 —The Hawaii Department of the Attorney General’s annual Uniform Crime Report, Crime in Hawaii, 2021, shows that in Calendar Year 2021, a total of 41,355 Index Crimes were reported in the State of Hawaii, yielding a rate of 2,868 offenses per 100,000 resident population. The total Index Crime rate in 2021 was 7.4% higher than the rate reported in 2020, and 14.6% below the rate reported a decade earlier (2012).
There were 3,849 violent Index Crimes reported statewide in 2021, yielding a rate of 267 offenses per 100,000 residents. Hawaii’s violent Index Crime rate in 2021 was 3.2% higher than the rate reported in 2020, and 10.1% higher than the rate reported in 2012.
There were 37,506 property Index Crimes reported statewide in 2021, yielding a rate of 2,601 offenses per 100,000 residents. Hawaii’s property Index Crime rate in 2021 was 7.8% higher than the rate reported in 2020, and 16.6% below the rate reported in 2012.
